Cloud

Systems design and cloud are and will be in the foreseeable future my main focus because they enable us to implement even the most ambitious ideas.
DevOps
IT
After several years of not giving devOps enough attention, I tried to understand how projects that I am involved in can be optimized. It turns out we spent a decent amount of time on repetitive tasks and on fixing screw ups that resulted after a part of a repetitive task was forgotten. With a minimal one-time investment in devOps, the productivity of the team increased considerably. Why? I think the massive confidence boost automation provides is an important factor.
Web Components (and Polymer)

After seeing how much attention web components are getting (it turns out pretty much any company that has a decent website uses them; also, google seems to push polymer way harder than angular), I started digging a bit deeper.
Also, other frameworks seem to embrace web components - Vue, for example, supports creating web components with it's CLI (the vue library is still needed to run the component, however, it can be integrated just like a native one.

The end-user is the ultimate judge of our work. There is no point in having extraordinary features if the user doesn't understand how to use them.
